THE PEOPLE UNDERGROUND are a duo based in Liège, Belgium.

Sharing a mutual love for MASSIVE ATTACK and NINE INCH NAILS, singer-songwriter CATHERINE and guitarist-producer JACQUES have been playing together since 2018. Though they may seem to come out of nowhere, they aren’t new to the musical field. However, having nothing to hide doesn't necessarily mean one has everything to show, and rather than showing off on stage, they prefer to write songs in the studio (at least for the time being).

When they want to be really presumptuous, they like to describe their sound as "JOHN CARPENTER meets COCTEAU TWINS" – which is pretentious indeed, and yet somehow appropriate.

Partageant un amour commun pour MASSIVE ATTACK et NINE INCH NAILS, CATHERINE et JACQUES composent et produisent à quatre mains depuis 2018. Bien qu'ils semblent sortir de nulle part, ils ne sont pas de nouveaux venus dans le petit monde de la musique alternative. Cependant, n'avoir rien à cacher ne signifie pas nécessairement qu'on a tout à montrer, et aux projecteurs de la scène, ils préfèrent la pénombre du studio (du moins pour le moment).

Quand ils veulent être vraiment présomptueux, ils aiment décrire leur son comme "JOHN CARPENTER rencontre COCTEAU TWINS" – ce qui est effectivement prétentieux et pourtant étrangement approprié.
